Cloud Air Services Ltd. is the only float plane charter company
currently operating from the Muskoka lakes. Our base is at Mortimer's
Marine at Mortimer's Point located near the north end of Lake
Muskoka.
Weather patterns, unique lakes, and a variety of conditions,
obstacles, and challenges will allow a student to gain the most
experience possible within a local area and within the minimum
amount of time. The experience gained from flying floatplanes
in and around this area will provide the experience required
navigating your floatplane anywhere you may wish to go.
Cloud Air Service Ltd. provides the basic float instructions
to private pilots for their endorsement, and specializes in
advanced float training programs for those individuals wishing
to gain further experience or to pursue the career as a commercial
float pilot. These programs are outlined as follows:
Aircraft
All initial float training will be completed on Cessna 172.
Advanced float training will include training on the company's
Cessna 206 amphibians.
Aircraft available for instruction and type rating:
Other aircraft available for advanced float training
The Cessna 206 amphibian is a six-place aircraft side-by-side
pilot co-pilot configuration with a continental 300 hp turbo-charged
engine and a constant speed propeller. This aircraft is available
for advanced float training only and with a company check
pilot at all times.

To Fly Float Planes.
Basic endorsement:
Transport Canada requires that each individual wishing to obtain
the float endorsement must complete a minimum of 7 hours total
time with a minimum of 5 hours dual and 5 takeoffs & landings,
as sole accupant of aircraft. This is the absolute minimum,
company personnel will not release anyone for solo flight until
he or she has demonstrated their knowledge, skills, and ability,
safely and to standards required. The aircraft, which the student
trains on, is available for them to rent at the completion of
their endorsement.
Advanced float training
A new student in a commercial aviation program requires certain
times and experience along with the formal commercial pilot
instruction. In response to an increasing demand by pilots within
a commercial training program Cloud Air Service Ltd. has developed
a float-training program, which allows the student to apply
his time and experience float training towards his commercial
pilots license. In effect the float training will fulfill the
solo portions of the commercial pilots license including cross-country
work. As well it will provide students with knowledge, skill
and experience within a commercial float charter operation.
Potential float charter employers will find this more desirable
than students without 50 hours of float flying experience.
The advanced float training package includes the initial endorsement
on the Piper PA 12. Thirty (38) hours block time as pilot command
on the Piper PA 12, five (5) hours as pilot in command on the
Cessna 180 with check pilot, and two (2) hours of pilot in command
on the Cessna 206 amphibian, with the check pilot. This 50-hour
package will be completed over a three-week period, weather
providing, and will include the discounted price and payment
plan of three equal payments over the training period.
Cloud Air Service Ltd. will also customize any training, on
any aircraft that the student may wish. For this the student
must contact the company and outline his requirements so that
we may co-ordinate his training and equipment, and provide an
estimated cost of training.
